Abstract: | User Interface (UI) and User Experience (UX) design is naturally an important part of the Human-Computer Interaction field, since virtually all applications have an interface through which users interact with the machine. Recent years have brought an exponential increase in the research of sports data analysis and visualization. Among all forms of exercise, running has become the most popular sport activity due to its health benefits, but the downside of running is the high injury risk. With current research and development towards extracting kinematic data from video recorded runs, risk factors can be detected and used to reduce injuries. This research entails designing and analyzing a runner’s dashboard, with the aim of preventing injuries. A prototype in the form of an interactive dashboard is developed, using video recordings of runners and their gait data. Finally, a preliminary user evaluation is conducted, which shows that the interface scores higher than average on the System Usability Scale and that its components provide access to meaningful data. |
