Abstract: | With data centers growing in both numbers and size, the electric cost to keep them running keeps increasing. But how much are these data centers affecting the electrical footprint for any individual? Is it as much as leaving one light bulb on for a day or do you have to consider using the internet less since your use of it would be ten times the power cost of your electricity bill? To get a grasp on the scale of this usage, this paper will dive into the current internet's power footprint and how this is divided and influenced per user. |
