Abstract:Zwolle requires insights to plan for the expected increase of electric vehicles (EVs) in its municipality. This thesis does this by proposing a model in which the charging infrastructure of EVs in a Dutch neighborhood are simulated. From this simulation model, the required number of charging points (CPs) in that neighborhood can be determined. This is done with the use of a method proposed by Utrecht, in which the required number of CPs is determined from the peak CP occupancy hour in a neighborhood. Furthermore, the model can be used to simulate the effect of three legislative instruments on the required number of CPs in a neighborhood. These are the utilization of the excess charging capacity of private CPs at work locations for public charging, a cap on the total parked time and a cap on the time after charging has finished.
