Abstract:This research aims to improve the cost tracking and allocation methods at Emons Group. The sector this organization operates in is the logistics industry by providing transportation services. The problem the organization was facing was the lack of a general overview of tasks performed by different departments. Therefore, a development team was formed which consisted of 5 students investigating 5 departments. I was given the task to look into the Back office of the company which dealt with invoices. In order to discover possible obstacles the “Billing department” was facing, interviews were conducted with the management team and the employees. Based on these conversations, the issue at hand was the inability to properly calculate the costs of providing services. The company possessed insufficient information whether the costs of conducting business in the UK were calculated properly. To provide a solution to this problem three new policies were presented. Afterwards, the solutions were weighted according to some criteria and one policy was selected for further elaboration and recommendation.
