Abstract:
Social media platforms have become so popular in the last few years, that people started incorporating them in their businesses too, rather than only using them for sharing vacation pictures or keeping in contact with their friends and relatives. The farming industry is also influenced by the presence of social media. From problem-solving to selling products, farmers have a lot of motivations for using these platforms. However, there are a lot of barriers that they encounter such as misinformation or time issues. This thesis looks more in-depth at how farmers use social media and provides a solution in the shape of a mobile application for some of the problems they encounter when creating content for social media. Furthermore, it also analyzes how non-farmers consume and contribute to the content farmers post on such platforms. Overall, the tool created eases the content creation process for the farmers and improves non-farmers' consumption and contribution.
