Abstract: | Interactive Virtual Reality is becoming more common in Mental Health Care. VR is found to have positive effects on patients suffering anxiety disorders, phobias and psychotic disorders among others. To ensure a Mental Health Organization adopts this eHealth technology, an implementation process is necessary, to counteract implementation barriers. The Consolidated Framework for Implementation Research (CFIR) is a commonly used model to support these processes. This research aimed to identify implementation barriers and find solutions to overcome these barriers when implementing VR in a Mental Health Organization. These findings were then used to verify and complement the existing implementation plan. Semi-structured interviews, based on the CFIR, were conducted among 6 therapists and 2 project leaders of the pilot phase of the implementation process. Thematic analysis was used to code the statements found. This resulted in 19 codes containing barriers and solutions, divided over 6 themes. Next to this, some topics concerning VR implementation are discussed. This study found that implementation processes should be tailored to the needs of subgroups as well. Next to this, the input of both therapists and patients should be considered while implementing VR in a Mental Health Organization. Implications for further research are included. |
