Abstract:Over the years there is an increase in demand for quality care in cancer treatment from both the patients and the providers. Prostate cancer is one of the common types of cancer in men. Among the treatment modalities for prostate cancer, Robotic assisted radical prostatectomy (RARP) is the common treatment modality; however, there are too less evidence or studies to demonstrate the good practices in performing RARP to achieve the best possible patient outcome. Hence, benchmarking the surgical and functional patient outcome of robotic assisted radical prostatectomy is essential. Therefore, Rijnstate, Arnhem, Netherlands (“Rijnstate”) and Onze-Lieve-Vrouwziekenhuis Aalst, Belgium (“OLV Aalst”) were engaged in a partnership to perform benchmarking to analyse the quality of robotic assisted radical prostatectomy surgeries and to explore ways to increase quality in terms of patient outcomes and to learn from each other.
