Abstract: | The report describes es the research for ETC to the lack of overview in spare parts management. This lack of overview is caused by the fact that there is no clear inventory policy. The demand for the spare part is low which suggested the use of the Erlang Loss Function to calculate the fractions of time that the spare parts are not available. The policy gives an overview of spare parts that need to be bought based on this function. By the use of this model, the service level can be increased by 3,68% when using the same budget. The total costs per year can be decreased by 77,38%. The policy makes it possible to make better-informed decisions to determine which spare parts there need to be in stock. The policy will not replace the experience of the employees and the recommendations of the supplier, but it gives a starting point for well-funded spare part management. |
