Abstract:Insects are one of the most important and diverse groups of organisms. Insects have been providing a lot of benefits in our day-to-day life. The insect population has been diminishing over the decades due to various factors. It has become even worse ever since the introduction of Artificial Lights at Night (ALAN). The extinction of certain insect species may affect the life cycle of all living creatures, reducing biodiversity. It would create an imbalance and a huge impact on the ecosystem. As insects are a significant species that constitute the ecosystem, monitoring and identifying them is important. Microphones are used to detect and monitor the sounds produced by flying insects in the outdoor environment.
