Design Science Research throughout the years : an in-depth analysis of papers published in the Journal of Purchasing and Supply Management and Journal of Supply Chain Management supported by Artificial Intelligence

Author(s): Bala, A. (2021)

Abstract:
This research project will investigate the development of design science publications over time, and the differences between design and traditional paradigms, such as explanatory and descriptive research, as ways of creating knowledge in the academic environment of purchasing. The investigation will be done through multiple methods of analysis, including the use of artificial intelligence (AI) in classifying academic publications which will be described in a guideline manner in the following chapters, with the purpose of encouraging its usage by other researchers willing to classify academic review data. Moreover, the main focus of this study will be set on the papers published in the JPSM and JSCM from the apparition of journals until the last published issues of 2020 (i.e. JPSM – Volume 26, Issue 5; JSCM – Volume 56, Issue 4).
