Abstract: | This study investigated the effects that a single error as well as five errors have on rapport, trust, perceived communication competence, and a suspect's willingness to provide information. Participants were given a scenario in which they were asked to imagine having committed exam fraud. Afterwards, they were shown a pre-recorded video interview, in which they were asked to imagine being the interviewed student. The results showed that there were effects of multiple errors on rapport, trust, and perceived communication competence. Against our expectations, there were no effects found for willingness to provide information, and no effects for making a single error on rapport, trust, perceived communication competence, or willingness to provide information. |
