Abstract: | Robotic technology is becoming increasingly prevalent and the science-fictional concept of having robot assistants and workers might become a widespread reality. Scientists and engineers all over the world are working diligently on expanding and perfecting the extent of the functionality of robots and considering how far technology has come just in the last 15 years, a future where robots are walking among us seems imminent This situation will have a massive impact on society and people individually. However, exploration of the topic of the effect of interaction with robots on human behavior is relatively limited. This research steps on the solid base of previous related works and utilizes an experiment that puts participants in two distinct scenarios – one with an encouraging robot and one with a non-encouraging one. A statistical analysis of the gathered data is used to try to determine whether and how encouragement from a robot can facilitate pro-social behavior in people. |
