Abstract: | Every abdominal aortic aneurysm differs in size, shape and occurs on a different location within the aorta. Despite the commercial stent-grafts on the market, abdominal aortic aneurysms with complex anatomies could often not be treated without post-EVAR complications occurring. An angulated proximal aortic neck or tortuous iliac arteries are examples of anatomical difficulties that could lead to problems like endoleaks, limb occlusion or device migration after intervention. Therefore, a personalised treatment is demanded to overcome complications and to improve the long-term durability of stent-grafts. In recent years, a lot of research has been done on this topic, but there are still some gaps to be filled. Every step of the treatment process, from diagnosis to intervention, has been reviewed and advice has been given to achieve this personalised approach. |
