Abstract: | In this paper a model to optimize the performance of a 3-phase coreless brushless axial flux PM machine with Halbach array is presented. The losses and motor parameters are identified and related to the variable design parameter. Using this information the model was constructed and a motor is used as an example to demonstrate the model. A range of input parameters, based on system requirements, were used to generate the output of the model. Furthermore, the model output was analysed using realistic small deviations to the design parameters of the motor to determine the reliability in realizing a given model output. It was found that the performance is greatly influenced by the alignment of the wires, so research into producing greater alignment in the motor is required to ensure higher model accuracy and motor performance. |
