Abstract: | To design an input filter of a DC to DC converter for all-electrical aircraft (AEA), a base knowledge of electromagnetic interference (EMI) is needed. The cause of EMI and the consequences of not filtering the EMI have been studied. Furthermore, the influence of changing the duty cycle and frequency of the PWM input signal of the converters related to EMI have been observed. And the changes of connecting multiple converters to the one power supply in parallel. Furthermore, different filters have been studied and simulated to reduce the EMI. Finally, a filter was made and tested if it holds up to DO160-G standards. Unfortunately, the designed filter did not meet standards when tested, owing primarily to parasitic elements and the filter's manufacturing process |
