Abstract:This study aimed to research the effect of MEOS on behaviour and the possible influence of Social Proof and Working Style on this behaviour. Research is also being carried out into whether MEOS and Working Style have an impact on the risk of ethnic profiling. This research consisted of two studies. The data was derived from a questionnaire and VR experiment that was conducted in 2021 among the employees (and students) of the police force in the Netherlands. results of study 1 shows that it seems that MEOS and working style has no influence on the risk of ethnic profiling in this study. The results of Study 2 show that the perception, based on interpretation, social appraisal and decision making, of the three MEOS screens almost all differ from each other. No evidence of a possible effect of social proof and working style was found. It can be concluded that no evidence was found that MEOS information has an effect on the risk of ethnic profiling. However, a main effect of MEOS on interpretation, social appraisal and decision making was found. Social proof and working Style seem to have no effect on interpretation, social appraisal, and decision making.
