Abstract: | Three methods for analysis of nonlinearity in gain-boosted N-path filters are proposed. The resulting expressions are compared to SPECTRE simulations for second- and third-order nonlinearity. The N-path and gain-boosted N-path filters are explained. The impact of switch resistance and switch nonlinearity is explored. A baseband equivalent circuit for the gain-boosted N-path filter is drawn up, with the assumption that this circuit has similar characteristics to the RF version. A model is provided for the on-state of NMOS switches. Finally, a description is given for how the results from this report can be used in subsequent research. |
