Abstract: | This research proposes a tactical planning tool which can help the Radboud UMC by creating a blueprint for a tactical-level operating room planning and control model, so that operating room (OR) and ward capacities can be specifically distributed over the next 2-3 months for the elective care, over the specialties ENT, URO, and GYN, taking into account the available capacities and budget goals. The problem for the specialties is that the strategic plan for capacity distribution and the actual realisation of used capacity tend to significantly differ from each other. The study arrives at an eight-step solution model. Here, capacity is reduced for each specialty and then the reducuded capacity is redistributed so that each department gets the capacity that better matches its capacity needs. As a result of the 8 step model, a blueprint will be displayed by the model with a table that indicates which (expected) patients should be scheduled per week per specialty. |
