Abstract:MRI-guided biopsy is a common way to examine body tissue to detect breast cancer. To increase the efficiency of this procedure the Sunram 7 was invented to perform the biopsy inside the MRI scanner. The Sunram 7 needs to be controlled by the radiologist, and therefore needs a controller. The Omega 7 haptic feedback controller is a good candidate for this. This is because the haptic feedback makes it possible to both give feedback of entering the breast during the biopsy, and prevent damage to parts of the breast that were not intended to get damaged using a deflection system. The chosen solution is the Omega 7 controller connected to a Matlab simulation which implements several anti-collision functions. This solution was tested to obtain any possible improvements.
