Abstract:Often, information systems are implemented within a company to help cope with the excessive amounts of data produced during a product's lifecycle. Implementing such an information system can be difficult, due to every company being unique, the excessive number of functionalities within an information system, and the large amount of data that must be incorporated. Existing literature describes the best methods for implementing information systems, as well as the problems that can occur during the implementation. However, literature lacks when it comes to describing the direct consequences of inadequate implementation of such systems. The goal of this thesis is to support companies in finding and reducing problems with their information system. To help a company in finding and reducing the pain points they encounter with their information system, the improved information system approach was developed. The improved information system approach consists of two phases, the analysis approach, and the solution approach. The analysis approach focuses on supporting the company in finding the pain points within their information system. The solution approach supports a company in developing fitting solutions for the found problems.
