Abstract: | Production machines are complex and often require problem identification and problem-solving. Physically performing these workflows takes time and is costly for the original equipment manufacturers and their customers. Remote support is a solution that replaces the need to aid customers physically by remotely helping the customer in the decision-making process. This research shows how different Industry 4.0 technologies can be used by original equipment manufacturers to enable remote support for their customers. More specifically, Extended Reality, Digital Twinning, Human-Machine Interaction and Product Lifecycle Management were chosen as the key enablers for remote support. To assist industry in enabling remote support with these Industry 4.0 technologies, a framework in the form of a roadmap is designed. This roadmap assists companies to incorporate a new tool, such as remote support, in their current practices. |
