Abstract:This thesis focuses on reducing handling times at Eternit B.V., a company producing corrugated sheets and fittings for roofing. The study identified the root cause of high handling times, which includes traffic bottlenecks, one-way traffic, outdated work processes, and an outdated warehouse layout. A literature review of management strategies such as Lean, Theory of Constraints as well as literature regarding automated guided vehicles (AGVs), and idea generation was conducted. By analyzing the current situation at Eternit, it was determined that transportation is the main cause of wasted time. The study proposes three solutions to minimize transportation and reduce handling times: implementing AGVs, changing one-way doors, and optimizing the warehouse layout.
