Abstract: | A businesses’ impact on the environment, society and its employees has become of great interest over the last years. Customers, employees, suppliers, shareholders and other stakeholders nowadays all expect businesses to not only pursue economic value but to recognize a broader scope of responsibility. Literature highlights the importance of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) engaging in socially responsible practices, since their aggregate potential impact is significant. However, there have only been a small number of studies that have explored the effect of social responsibility within SMEs, and even fewer explore the effect of social responsibility on social and economic performance simultaneously. Therefore, the purpose of this work is to examine the effect of social responsibility and social innovation on social and economic performance within SMEs. |
