Abstract:In this thesis, it was researched how using speech and a smartwatch to record documentation for Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems might contribute to user satisfaction. This research was done together with the company Ecare. The tested prototype only consisted of a clickable interface. The prototype was tested with nine participants, where they were asked to record speech documentation with a smartwatch in two fictional scenarios, and afterwards use the desktop interface to check the report made by the system. After the tasks, they were asked about their experience through a Dutch translation of the SASSI (Hone et al., 2000), and interview questions. Overall, participants' opinions of the prototype were quite positive with an average of 5.51 (75.20%) on the 7-point SASSI scale for the first iteration and a 5.42 (73.65%) for the second iteration, where 4 is a neutral score. During the interview questions all participants thought that the prototype could save them time when it works accurately, but that it will take some getting used to it. Future research could focus on accuracy of speech recognition and the digital scribe, or expanding functionalities of the smartwatch.
