Abstract: | This scientific research addresses the lack of guidance the design of data governance structures for data mesh architecture by developing a guidance tool that bridges the gap between theory and practice. The study employs a design science research methodology, consisting of: 1) multiple literature reviews on data mesh, data mesh migration, challenges in data mesh migration, data governance, the design of data governance structures, and data governance structures in data mesh, 2) the development of a theoretical conceptual model of the data governance structure in data mesh, 3) the creation of practical data governance structures based on two case studies, 4) the extraction of important design decisions made during the design of the data governance structures and 5) the development and validation of a guidance tool presenting the design decisions and resulting organizational configurations. |
