Abstract:Menopause is naturally occurring phase, that can impact women’s well-being. One factor influencing well-being in women is their attitudes towards menopause. The relationship between attitudes towards menopause and well-being might be affected by the age of the women. Therefore, this mixed-methods study assesses the moderating role of age on the relationship between attitudes towards menopause and well-being in women aged 30 to 50 years. The dataset consisted of 89 women from the Netherlands, Germany, and Poland, using convenience and snowball sampling. The participants could qualitatively elaborate on their perspectives about menopause in an open question on menopause. In addition, the Mental Health Continuum – Short Form and the Attitudes Towards Menopause scale were used to quantitatively assess well-being and attitudes towards menopause. The results showed no significant moderating effect of age on the relationship between attitudes towards menopause and well-being. However, this study has shown that education about menopause is crucial for women and their attitudes towards menopause. Therefore, society and the media must portray more realistic pictures of menopause and highlight its positive consequences. It is important to appropriately educate women about this major life challenge and provide them with information on where to seek help and support.
