Abstract:
This thesis aims to develop a warehouse layout data model and visualisation tools for Bricklog, a logistics business intelligence company based in Apeldoorn. Bricklog specialises in providing a generic method for generating insights through business intelligence (BI). The thesis primarily focuses on addressing two key challenges: the lack of warehouse storage location data and the absence of standardised visualisation tools for class-based storage policies. In a warehouse setting, class-based storage involves assigning products to specific zones based on their characteristics. The lack of data on storage locations is solved by providing a generic method to create a layout data model. The dashboards generated by the visualisation tools have two main aims: first, to provide the warehouse manager with insight into the implementation of a class-based storage policy, and second, to demonstrate the extent to which class-based storage policies can reduce travel distance for order pickers.
