Abstract: | This study examines the correlation between pre-bedtime TikTok usage and sleep quality in a 28-year-old male. The research seeks to understand the influence of social media usage on various sleep parameters such as sleep onset latency, total sleep duration, REM and deep sleep, and resting heart rate. Additionally, it explores the relationship between these sleep parameters and psychological states like irritability, attention, concentration, and overall feeling. Employing sleep tracking technology and self-reported diaries over 22 days, the study found significant associations between social media use and sleep parameters. Notably, increased pre-bedtime social media use corresponded with shorter sleep onset latency and lower resting heart rate. The research underscores the need to consider digital media habits in sleep health discussions and interventions. |
