Abstract: | This study focuses on conducting an economic evaluation of high-dose-rate (HDR) brachytherapy clinical applications for prostate cancer. It analyzes the most common applications of HDR brachytherapy in the United States and details an optimized clinical application that maximizes reimbursement. The study calculates the total utilization cost and reimbursement for these clinical applications, highlighting the cost-reimbursement differences between the two clinical applications. Additionally, the research explores the potential impact on costs when innovations are made to the time-consuming activities involved in the clinical application using a spreadsheet simulation. Specifically, it analyzes the costs associated with the time-consuming activities involved in HDR brachytherapy clinical applications. By simulating various scenarios and considering potential improvements, the study aims to understand the potential financial implications of implementing these innovations. |
