Abstract:Continuous improvement is a pivotal aspect of Heineken's organizational culture, contributing to employee performance and overall success. To remain competitive and responsive to industry changes and innovations, Heineken actively seeks growth opportunities and aims to improve warehouse efficiency through technological advancements. The objective of this academic study is to provide Heineken with valuable insights into warehouse trends and innovations that can optimize specific processes in European warehouses. The research question addressed is: "How can warehousing trends and innovations improve the performance of Heineken's processes in Europe?" The study focuses on identifying warehouse process trends, particularly those related to equipment, in high-wage Western European countries. Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) are analyzed, revealing a shift from cost reduction to customer satisfaction and quality improvement. Labor costs, particularly in internal transport, are identified as significant expenses, prompting exploration of stable processes that can adapt to changes. Material handling innovations, including Automated Guided Vehicles (AGVs), Autonomous Mobile Robots (AMRs), and smart conveyors, are assessed, along with scanning methods such as automatic barcode scanners, RFID tags, and image recognition cameras. Recommendations include monitoring KPI trends, identifying quality KPIs, considering AGV applications, and leveraging image recognition technology for operational efficiency enhancements.
