Investigating end-to-end logistics : a strategic analysis of intermodal transportation

For a transport and logistics company, possibilities for end-to-end logistics are investigated by executing a strategic analysis of intermodal transportation. Transportation options by barge, train, and truck around the company's region are analyzed. By using an optimization model and price differentiation, for each (potential) customer, the optimal transport solution is determined based on price, emissions, and time combined. Out of the experiments of the model, strategic information is obtained, and a practical tool is developed to help companies select the best transport and logistics solution.
