Abstract:The thesis delves into the challenges posed by Big Data Analytics in the context of responsible decision-making within asymmetrical relationships. Divided into three sections, the research addresses specific sub-questions. The first section explores challenges in providing relevant explanations in asymmetrical relationships due to data-driven algorithms. It examines the philosophical implications for responsibility, affecting moral agency and patient empowerment. The second section adopts a forward-looking approach to moral responsibility, emphasizing the importance of explanations for care, trust, and understanding in asymmetrical relationships. This perspective integrates feminist theory, acknowledging interconnectedness in decision-making. The third section draws on industrial maintenance practices to illustrate how caring through explanations can be practiced.A forward-looking approach encourages involving moral patients in decisions for reliable relationships. The study underscores the need for decision-makers to prioritize relevant explanations, fostering trust and reliance in asymmetrical relationships through a responsible, care-oriented approach.
