Abstract: | To improve the sustainability of a building's lifecycle, new technologies are suggested. While digital twins are increasingly applied in other sectors, the construction industry still struggles with their implementation. This study identifies a lack of guidance for their practical implementation. Consequently, it identified the elements of a digital twin for modular construction and created guiding questions to identify and structure the potential components for a specific digital twin application. The framework was then tested through a case study and found to assist a modular construction company in their further planning for the digital twin. Further, it finds that maintenance and stakeholders should be given more attention to when planning digital twins in the construction industry. |
