Abstract:This thesis builds upon previous work that developed a platform for personalised coaching of patients with (multiple) chronic diseases. The main goal of the thesis is the development of a reinforcement learning-based algorithm that integrates behaviour change techniques and tailors the content and timing of the provided coaching on an individual basis, with the aim to increase physical activity in people with Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD).
