Abstract: | This thesis delves into the dynamic evolution of the city of Vienna followed by an exploration of visual representations. By including and creating different representations of maps and diverse visualisations, this study reveals the world of the process, changes and transformation that have shaped Vienna's urban landscape over time. Using the power of cartographic tools and design techniques, this research illuminates the historical and contemporary dimensions of Vienna's urban growth. This thesis gives a holistic view of the city’s growth by bridging the gap between different analysis and artistic interpretation. The resulting synthesis contributes to a larger discussion on the function of visual representation in comprehending urban development, and fusing process and change in the world of cartography. |
