Abstract: | Research has shown that involving vulnerable people is useful in designing eHealth technologies. Despite barriers and exclusion from research, vulnerable people need to be involved in the design of eHealth technologies to ensure that the technology aligns with the vulnerable population. The objective is to identify what the added value is of involving vulnerable people in the design of eHealth technologies, and to determine positive aspects of involving vulnerable populations in the design of eHealth technologies. To identify what the added value is of involving vulnerable people in the design of eHealth technologies, a scoping review was executed. Furthermore, expert interviews were conducted to relay the themes found in the literature and to explore whether the experts acknowledge the themes found in literature and if there are subjects that were not found in literature but were identified by the experts. Themes were identified through the scoping review. The expert interviews acknowledged these themes and showed how added value is created through involving vulnerable people in the design of eHealth technologies. In conclusion, by combining a scoping review with expert interviews, themes surrounding the added value of including vulnerable people in the design of eHealth technologies were identified and explored |
