Abstract:This thesis presents a Maturity Model for Quality Assurance (QA) and Control (QC) in the Dutch Construction Sector. This research is motivated by organizations' uncertainties in preparing for the Wet kwaliteitsborging and the absence of assessment and guidance methods on this topic. The model consists of 3 levels and 5 dimensions, which were systematically identified and refined through the Design Science Research (DSR) methodology in two iteration cycles. The model was developed by literature review, enhanced through expert consultation, and tested and validated through pilot projects. Eight teams from three different construction projects were subjected to the model through assessment with stand-alone questionnaires and evaluation interviews. The findings indicate that IT infrastructure exhibits the highest maturity and organizational structure the lowest. The maturity model developed in this study can be a promising tool for construction companies to evaluate and improve their QA and QC practices. Furthermore, it shows the potential to be a tool for municipalities and Quality Assurance Managers to assess the competence in QA and QC of organizations in the construction sector. Future research should focus on broadening the model’s scientific foundation, diversifying expert input, and extending pilot testing to ensure robustness and applicability across the industry.
