Abstract: | Digitalization has instigated a transformation in individuals' spiritual practices, notably through the rising popularity of spiritual apps offering features like guided meditations, mindfulness exercises, and quick horoscope access. Despite the growing demand, scholarly literature in this domain remains limited. This study aims to explore the perceived impact of spiritual apps on users through the analysis of nine interviews, utilizing a thematic analytical approach. The analysis identified five themes: adopting a self-affirming attitude, improved interpersonal relationships, belief in a meaningful whole, support for self-development, and assistance in coping with mental challenges. Participants viewed these themes as addressing fundamental needs like belonging, safety, esteem, and self-actualization. The study contributes to understanding the interaction between spiritual apps and users and determining their added value. |
