Abstract:The thesis addresses Rottink, a piston ring manufacturer, aiming to optimize its inventory management for chisel tips. The current ad hoc approach leads to suboptimal inventory management costs and stockouts. The proposed solution involves a new deterministic, multi-item inventory policy using the Chan and Chiu heuristic, aiming to reduce costs and separate orders. A complementary warehouse procedure, including transparent guidelines and a last-package container, is introduced to prevent errors in adherence to the warehouse procedure. These two deliverables aim to optimize inventory management of chisel tips at Rottink.
