Abstract:In recent years, restorative justice (RJ) has emerged as a transformative approach in the criminal justice system, prioritizing healing and collective resolution involving victims, offenders, and the community. Restorative Justice Conferencing (RJC), a key component of RJ, facilitates dialogue among stakeholders, particularly young offenders, victims, and the community. This study explores the extent to which the public desires involvement in the restorative justice process and why. Hypotheses propose that family members with positive attitudes towards RJ are more willing to participate. Additionally, the study posits a hypothesis that family members with higher emotional and informational needs are more willing to participate in the restorative justice process.
