Abstract: | This thesis documents research performed at a Company X, a manufacturing company in the Netherlands. Company X has quickly expanded over the years. Their processes however have not been scaled properly. When new products get designed, they go through numerous phases, processes and departments. The time that it takes for a product to go from draft to final product is called the New Product Introduction (NPI) Time. The company believes that the NPI Time could be reduced to approximately one year. Interviews have brought to light nine specific issues that are experienced during the NPI flow. Theoretical research is performed to find tackle these issues. Based on this research, multiple solutions are constructed focusing on Design For Six Sigma (DFSS), Bottom-Up Resource allocation and meeting guidelines. In addition to this, attention points to avoid failure are drafted to make sure these solutions are properly implemented. Implementing the solutions would take around three years. The NPI time is expected to decrease by an estimated 8.875 months. Reducing the average of 20 months by 8.875 means that a project would take about 11 months to complete. Thus, the company goal for projects to take around 1 year would be achieved. |
