Abstract: | The thesis discusses the challenge of maintaining control in flexible organisations. Despite performance management (PMM) models, unethical behaviour and sub-optimisation are still issues. The thesis proposes developing (Palanski & Yammarino 2007)'s virtue-ethics concept of integrity into a PMM to address this. The concept is applied across multiple levels of analysis, emphasising honouring promises, defining an ethical framework and effective risk management to reduce unethical behaviour and sub-optimisation. A case study at a organisation suggests the model could serve as a PMM and an assessment and design method for organisational integrity. |
