Abstract: | In recent years, there have been growing concerns about the declining mental health of students. Despite these growing concerns, there is still limited research conducted on the efficacy of positive psychological interventions (PPIs) delivered through mobile apps. Therefore, this study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of a positive psychological intervention named the Training in Positivity (TIP) app. In this study, the focus is on identifying the changes and causes of changes students experience in their mental health. To achieve this, semi-structured interviews were conducted with eighteen students. Then a thematic analysis was used, and five main themes emerged. These themes are positive changes in mental health status, negative changes due to app usage, stability in mental health status, perceived causes of change, and perceived importance of changes. The majority of participants noticed positive changes in their mental health. However, there were also some participants who experienced negative effects due to the usage of the Training in Positivity (TIP) app. To conclude, this study shows the impact that the Training in Positivity (TIP) app can have on students' mental health and explores the factors contributing to both the positive and negative effects experienced by students. |
