Abstract:The present study was conducted in order to assess the influence of psychological factors and the availability of alcohol on drinking behavior of young people in sport clubs. Data was collected through a questionnaire distributed among players from the A-and BYouth (15-19 years old) in sports clubs in Lingen (Germany). The aim of the questionnaire was to assess the general and soccer-related drinking behavior. Furthermore, psychological factors and the environment variables have been analyzed using a five point scale. The results show that psychological factors did not have much impact on drinking in sports clubs. However, the availability of alcohol has huge influence on drinking behavior. Moreover, a link was found between the availability of alcohol and general drinking behavior. The greater the availability of alcohol in the sport clubs, the more excessive the drinking behavior appears to be both inside and outside the sports club. In particular, those clubs identified as "alcohol clubs” need to reduce alcohol consumption
