Abstract:Research has been conducted to find out whether available information about risks with children ranging between 0 and 4 years of age meets the information needs and concerns of parents. The Information Seeking and Processing Model from Griffin, Dunwoody and Neuwirth (1999) and the Protection Motivation Theory from Rogers (1975) have been applied in this research. Information sufficiency should exhibit a direct relationship with information needs to come to the conclusion that available information meets the information needs. Attitude towards information should have an indirect relationship with the extent to which parent are worried. Both assumptions are tested and true. However, it is difficult to say whether the information is indeed consistent with the worries of parents, because the different aspects of being worried and information have not been measured.
