Abstract:The internationally operating (Europe) transportation company central in this study, referred to as Heisterkamp, provides services in the areas of trailer trucking, truck rental and leasing, trailer rental and leasing, truck and trailer service, used trucks and commercial vehicles. The company experienced an unanticipated situation in which the skill-level of truck drivers, i.e. technical and social skills, was regarded to be insufficient, according to the assessment by the management team. Heisterkamp showed interest in stepping into the area of corporate e-learning in order to increase employee performance. The described situation has inspired this study, and reports the findings from the past seven months, with the aim of developing guidelines for e-learning implementation, in commission of Heisterkamp Transport B.V. This was done by assessing criteria for e-learning creation and implementation, combined with an assessment of the organizational readiness for e-learning at the previously-mentioned organization. The assessment of the organizational readiness for e-learning at Heisterkamp was created by consulting organizational readiness for e-learning theory and organizational data retrieved by open-ended interviews. In the end, ten prioritized and function-wise recommendations were presented in order to increase Heisterkamp’s organizational readiness for e-learning, and deal with the expected problems regarding organizational e-learning.
