| Abstract: | Recommender systems (RSs) are used to help users find interesting items. Some problems are present in current RSs, like the cold-start problem and creating language-independent recommendations. The goal of this project is to build a semantic web based RS, that solves these problems by using a Facebook profile as input and information from DBpedia to find related items. The system is evaluated in two different domains, namely postcards and holiday homes. During the evaluation sessions the system is compared with two different baseline systems. One baseline system was used to evaluate the usefulness of DBpedia and the other was to evaluate the created recommendations. |
