Abstract:The comparison between different methods to identify the wake vorticity structure from a RANS calculation of the flow around a marine propeller. Three methods are considered, vorticity magnitude, Q-factor and total pressure variation. Of these methods the total pressure variation method turned out to give the most reasonable results, whereas Q-factor method showed some problems with the accuracy. The total vorticity method showed good results and was stable for the whole range of advance ratios.
