Abstract:This report is written for the internship that is part of the master’s program of Mechanical Engineering. The internship took place at Lely Technologies in Maassluis, The Netherlands. Lely is a family business which delivers dairy and forage solutions such as milking and feeding robots for cows. Lely is a highly innovative company within its sector, with around 2000 employees worldwide. At the research and development department the internship included a research on barn cleaning. Several concepts were compared and tests on working principles were conducted. Two working prototypes were manufactured who were able to function well for its purpose. The concept is further developed within the Technology department. Because the implementation compromised a robot in a barn, compactness, energy-efficiency and robustness were important factors.
