Abstract: | System dynamics is a modelling approach that has the ability to represent dynamic behaviour of complex systems. Such a system can be used in the context of managing a project. Project management is of great importance for companies and their projects, making it essential to carry this out properly. Using system dynamics for project management can bring advantages. However, there is still a research gap in the sense that there is no overview of applications of system dynamics that show how the modelling approach can aid project management. This research thus dives into existing literature and case studies to create this overview. The value of the research brings insight into which project phases can benefit from system dynamics modelling, and whether there are certain industries where system dynamics is especially useful. The conclusion is that the modelling approach is beneficial for all sorts of projects, especially during the initiation and progress phases. |
